Previously to moving back to Toronto, I was fortunate enough to spend almost 3 years at a small marketing company geared towards helping small businesses around Canada. At this job, almost every guy that worked there had an amazing beard. It almost became a running joke that in order to be hired there a beard was a must. Then, a clean shaved face to now, a full beard with no intentions of shaving it anytime soon. Did I subconsciously grow a beard because I spent 8 hours a day around them? Maybe! But that’s not the point. The point is, I have been asked countless times from men and women on what I use for grooming, skincare and the daily schedule to maintaining a beard. Here is a break down on daily products that I use that are effective and most importantly, affordable.
Lush
Lush face masks have become a huge staple in my daily skincare regime. Coming from a small town, Lush was never in hands reach. I was stuck with drug store brand face washes that were over priced and probably doing more harm than helping. If you haven’t been to Lust to try some samples, I strongly advise you to. All Lush masks are made fresh with fruit, vegetables, butter clays and some essential oils. No matter what skin type, they will have a handful of products for you.
I have two go to masks. The first one is Cup O’ Coffee. If you are a coffee addict like me, this mask is for you. Made with Kaolin to deeply cleanse yours pours as well as ground coffee to gently scrub and buff away dryness leaning your skin able to breathe and glow. This coffee based mask perks up toy skin leaving it feeling and looking fresh. The second mask I use is Mask Of Magnanimity. This mask was made to intensely clean your face while using peppermint oil to rid your pores. If you are a fan of peppermint with hints of vanilla, this is the mask for you.
First Element Beard Oil & Balm
I have always been capable of growing a beard but my skin couldn’t handle the dry, itchy feeling that would come along with the beard. Beard oil has become something my skin can’t live without. First Element products are 100% natural, handmade and made from all natural, organic, kosher and food grade ingredients. First Element beard oils are made to penetrate and moisturize the hair under the beard while leaving your skin hydrated, softened and itch free. First Element beard oil comes in scents of orange cedar, citrus musk, coconut, bay rum, cedar wood and unscented. I strongly suggest the orange cedar or bay rum.
What is your beard oil without beard balm? Nothing really. not as crucial as the oil but balm is an added extra to maintaining healthy skin and hair. The First Element beard balm is made from beeswax and Shea butter to help soften, tame add definition while giving your beard a manly shine. Also available in orange cedar, citrus musk, coconut, bay rum, cedar wood and unscented.
Bioderma Sebium H20
Bioderma has some of the best cleansing and makeup removing water that I have tried to date. This cleansing water gently purifies oily or blemished skin. The pros to this product are that it leaves your face feeling washed without drying out the skin. Thanks to the Fluidactiv patented sebo-correcting complex, it biologically regulates sebum quality to keep the pores from becoming clogged and clear up the skin. The best way to describe this product is that it leaves your face feeling as clean as if you just stepped out of the shower. I get my Bioderma H20 at Shoppers in their ever growing cosmetics section.
Biotherm Homme Lip Balm
Guys, this one is important. Your lips are as important as the rest of your skin. Biotherm Homme ultimate lip balm is a hydrating and repairing lip balm that will leave your lips smooth and protected against the warm or cold temperatures. Enriched with bees wax and Shea butter leaving your lips with an instant cool sensation. This lip balm is sitting in the higher price range than your no name lip balms but, its worth the splurge for $12.50. Treat yourself.
